Wildlife

What lives here, and how to find it.

What to look for in each season, the species people have recorded so far, and the latest pictures from around Kidbrooke.

What to look for

Every season brings someone new.

The species hunt

62 species recorded so far. Help find the rest.

Every photo of something alive that people share on iNaturalist becomes a record scientists can use. So far only a few dozen species have been recorded in and around the park, which means there are many more waiting to be found. Our goal: 100 by summer 2027.

  1. 1

    Get the app

Download iNaturalist, or Seek, its simpler version made for younger explorers. Both are free.

  2. 2

    Snap anything alive

A beetle, a mushroom, a weed in a crack. Look closely, take a photo, and leave it where it is.

  3. 3

    Share it

The community helps name it. Once it is confirmed, it counts towards the park's total.

    Community pictures

    Kidbrooke, as neighbours see it.

The latest wildlife photos from Kidbrooke, from the river to the rooftops of Kidbrooke Village. A magpie on a ledge counts. Send yours to the Keepers below, or share it on iNaturalist, and it appears here.

Photos: neighbours who sent them to the Keepers, credited by first name, and iNaturalist observers in Kidbrooke, each credited on its picture and shown under the licence its photographer chose. Under 13? Ask a parent or teacher to send it.

    Send us a photo

    Seen something wild in Kidbrooke?

Send the Keepers your photo of the park's wildlife, plants or seasons. Every photo is checked twice, first automatically and then by a person, before it appears on this page.

    • Nature only, with no people's faces, so everyone's privacy is kept, children's especially.
    • Keep your distance: never disturb a nest, a den or the reedbeds for a picture.
    • Your phone's location and camera details are removed before the photo leaves it.
